A major part of a successful transaction is obtaining clearances from HMRC. Pete was responsible for clearances at the Inland Revenue, & has also worked with HMRC on developing the non-statutory clearance facility that HMRC offers to its business customers.
We will guide you through effective communication with HMRC & we frequently advise when HMRC has refused clearance for a transaction. We are often able to persuade HMRC to change the decision and grant clearance, by explaining the commercial drivers for the transactions and sometimes by rearranging the transactions into a form which meets the rules.
We would strongly recommend that you involve us with a review of your clearance application before you apply to HMRC. It is much easier to get an advance clearance granted than to overturn a refusal.
